B.Vocational degrees now acceptable as lateral entry point for engineering courses – AICTE

In an official announcement AICTE recently placed BVocational degrees at par with B.Sc and engineering diploma. Students with B.voc degrees in any branch of engineering can get a direct entry to the second year of B.E or B.Tech programs.

BVocational courses have become quite popular among students in the past few years due to increased focus on skill based learning. B.Voc is a three year duration course with flexible exit points. After first year students get a diploma, at second year exit point an advance diploma or a degree at the final year exit point. It is available in various specializations such as food technology, hospitality, applied computer technology, healthcare etc.

These courses were already approved by AICTE. The announcement of their acceptance for lateral entry into engineering courses will open more opportunities for B.Voc students.
