Looking at tiny drifters to improve ocean health

The world has its eyes and ears on the policies and action plans that come out of the ongoing COP26. As world leaders brainstorm ways to achieve “Net Zero”, there essentially are only two paths – reduce emissions and increase absorption.

We are all aware of the superpowers of green plants and trees to absorb CO2. But little do we know about tiny ocean creatures called ‘Planktons’. “Plankton – organisms carried on the tides – are the foundation of the marine food web. They are a crucial part of the global carbon cycle of an intricately balanced system that helps keep us all alive, by helping produce much of the oxygen we breathe” .

This article points out how planktons can help us improve the health of our oceans and thereby have a positive impact on global.
